Accessibility statement

Our aim

This website is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We work with public sector and healthcare organisations, for whom accessibility is a procurement requirement rather than a preference, and it would be poor form for our own site not to meet the standard we would expect of a supplier.

What has been done

• Pages use semantic HTML with a single, correctly ordered heading structure, real landmarks and a skip link to the main content.
• Everything is operable by keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
• Text and interface colours meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast thresholds against their backgrounds.
• Every control meets the WCAG 2.2 minimum target size of 24 by 24 pixels. Primary controls, meaning navigation links, buttons, form fields and the mobile menu, are 44 pixels or larger. Links inside a sentence of body text are sized by the text itself, which the guideline permits.
• Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, and remains legible when zoomed to 200 per cent.
• Expandable sections are built on native HTML disclosure elements, so they work with assistive technology and with JavaScript disabled. Their content is present in the page whether they are open or shut.
• Motion is limited to short, functional transitions, and all of it is disabled for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
• The contact form has visible, permanently associated labels, and errors are described in words next to the field rather than by colour alone.
• There are no carousels, no automatically moving content, no time-limited interactions and no CAPTCHA to solve.
• The site is readable and usable with JavaScript unavailable.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than claim perfection:

• On viewports of 1080 pixels and wider, longer pages show an index rail of in-page links. It is a plain list of links and is reachable by keyboard, but it repeats headings that also appear in the page below.
• Expandable sections open automatically on wider screens and start closed on narrow ones. If your browser window is resized across that threshold, sections may open without you asking them to.
• This site has been assessed against WCAG 2.2 AA by the team that built it, using automated checks across every page at ten viewport widths plus manual keyboard testing. It has not yet been independently audited or tested with a panel of assistive technology users.

Reports of accessibility problems are useful, and they will be acted on.

Enforcement

The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the Equality Act 2010 in relation to website accessibility. If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not happy with our response, you can raise it with them.

The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to this website, because Nexus Connect Limited is not a public sector body. We have written this statement to the same shape regardless, because it is the useful format.
