Technology
Technology contracts renew automatically, escalate annually and are usually negotiated by the person who needs the tool rather than by anyone who negotiates for a living.
The territory
Technology is now a material share of spend in most organisations and it behaves differently to everything else: consumption-based pricing, renewal dates scattered across the year, licence models that change under you, and genuine switching costs.
The commercial work is unglamorous. Knowing what you own, what you use, when it renews and what the alternative costs consistently returns more than the effort it takes.
Where we work
- 01
Cybersecurity
Selecting and contracting security tooling and managed services, and putting supplier security obligations into contracts properly, including what happens on an incident, who tells whom, and how quickly.
- 02
Cloud
Cloud commitments, consumption forecasting and licensing structures, where the cost curve rarely matches the original business case. Contracting for exit and portability at the outset, rather than discovering the position at renewal.
- 03
Digital transformation
Procuring the systems, integration and implementation partners a transformation depends on, and structuring those contracts so that delivery risk sits somewhere sensible and payment is linked to something observable.
What we are asked to do
Other sectors
Talk to us about a technology procurement challenge.
A list of what renews in the next twelve months is usually enough to start. It is also, in most organisations, the hardest thing to produce.
